Just when you thought Riviera Nayarit couldn’t possibly get more luxurious, another gem is added to it: Imanta Punta de Mita. Hint: This is the type of resort best suited for those looking to get away from it all. Imanta Punta de Mita has only seven accommodations—two Casonas and five Casas. The Tops? We hear it’s the beachfront Casona Jaguar, a two-bedroom home (it can host six people) with a nanny’s room or office, private pool and Jacuzzi and array of outdoor space that includes terraces and decks.

At Imanta Punta de Mita, it’s all about giving guests an experience in nature. While both Casonas—also including Casona Los Templos—have ocean views, three Casas are notable for their jungle-like surroundings. The resort encompasses 250 acres of tropical vegetation and a two-mile stretch of beach on the Bay of Banderas.

The resort has a host of amenities, including a spa facility that boasts a selection of pre-Hispanic naturopathic treatments using organic flowers and herbs grown in Imanta’s gardens. Top Sweat: Imanta’s Temascal, an Aztec-inspired sweat lodge built deep in the jungle, will leave you purified and invigorated.

There are two restaurants at Imanta: casual dining at Catch of the Day’s beachside palapa (think locally caught fish and authentic Mexican dishes) or the more refined setting of Tukipa, which has a daily changing menu using seasonal ingredients. Note: Private chefs can also prepare in-room dinners. Top View: Atop Tukipa is the rooftop Observatorio bar, where you can sip on a cocktail amid 360-degree views of ocean and jungle.

Activities are aplenty at Imanta. Six golf courses, including the Greg Norman-designed Litibu Golf Club, are closeby. Getting There: Imanta Punta de Mita is a 45-minute drive from Puerto Vallarta’s international airport.
